Immersing the local and global marketing teams in Indian cooking habits.

The Issue

International brand of food preparation appliances needed a deeper understanding of local market behaviours in India, to fuel its market and innovation strategies.

What We Did

Intensive 2-week ethnographic study in Bangalore and Chennai, visiting local consumers at mealtimes to watch them prepare, cook, serve and clear up after their family meals – identifying category issues and opportunities. All interviews videoed on smartphone to ensure detailed footage to support our learning.

What We Delivered

Rich fly-on-the-wall video material bringing to life the crucial daily role the client’s products play – seeing the world through the eyes of these busy women preparing time-consuming daily meals for their families, identifying gaps and opportunities for product optimisation and communications from the client.
